32 years...

That's the age at the time of writing. George calls it the 3 series. After 32 years, my weight is 92 kg.
The plan for years is to get my weight down to 70 kg, which was achievable back in 2007.

My original desired weight was 62.5 kg in September 2000. After 12 years,  the increase is almost 50%! OMG!!

The sad and long goodbye -the lost piece 2

There is a line from a movie describing about heaven and hell. Not the most superior rated movie I ever seen, but some lines did tick the old grey matter of mine that needs stimulating. Could it be true that both of them are right here, right now and the only thing that matter is how we choose to live with it?
So it could simply be the deduction that we not need to travel back and forth in time to see how illustrative our past was or to look in the staring globes in hope to catch a sight of the future will become? Can it be that there is no past to explore? And could it be there is no future to predict?
Speaking of which, just recently I had to stay behind to do an on-call. A new admission, an old 96 year old, a bit deaf and a bit blind yet has this nasty volume and aggressive way with her mouth. A demented old lady, reminds me of Stan’s Grandpa in South Park a little, could not stop talking and scowling every minute of the hour. For the first hour, I felt sorry for the old lady. Then sorry began to turn to irritation, and then it shifted to anger and frustration. I lost my temper and feel into the trap by giving into temptation to argue with this senile old hag.
After a few hours later, having to witness and to bare with the heart breaking, nerve wrecking and arrogant peoples, one could not picture that they were once a part of a functioning institution. They had families, partners, grown up children, once perhaps played a significant role in the society, and yet, they are segregated from society. Who wants to live with a person who is aggressive and abusive with words? Yet alone be very arrogant and ignorant of other people’s feelings? And things just got better, that they were once the caring parents you knew, being an inspiration and the source of life wisdom, then gradually transforming to a fragmented individual, often can’t really remember anything but still able not to forget to hurt other people’s feelings by hurling criticizing comments and accusations.
When I returned home, I realised that one day, one of my uncles or aunt, or perhaps my mum would be next in line. How could I face the day when my own mother would not recognise me anymore? Just the thought of it makes me ever so sad yet alone to confront the sad and long goodbye.

Vote for your rights and Malaysia PRU-13.

This is going to be the first time I'll be voting since coming back for Leicester.

When is the General Election? It's where the ruling party feels they can win the support of the majority to enable the current Government to rule for another term.

So, if you like the current government, VOTE! If you want to change it, VOTE!

If you don't vote while you can, well... hm.... don't complain if the government in power is not your liking.

And if you feel that the SPR and the whole voting system is corrupted, well...hmm... that's your right to have an opinion.

Telly - the lost piece 1

The Telly Box; physically is just a large light bulb. The filaments are heated up and produce a ray of electrons and it bombards the coating behind the screen. As the creator of this magnificent piece of ingenuity combines radio and video signals, what we see on the other side of this big fat bulb is a piece of work, one that is finely tuned and orchestrated by the complexity of electronic circuitry, ironically, is what we always wanted; an escapism from our reality; living pictures that have sounds, music and irritating noises. Some can be beamed ‘live’, some are ‘on demand’ and some are just plain routine broadcasting, desperately trying to push up for ratings.

Some may use Telly as a source of information, to replay their video recordings, to use it for their game consoles, and perhaps a type of therapy, or even to display any of their precious ornaments, pictures of pride and joy or even just to show off how fantastic their home entertainment system that they manage to conjure.

With the sudden bloom of reality TV programmes, the stupid Telly Box is now not only the one that is entertaining, but getting us to see our own reflection. The Big Brother show may be a reflection of society, Mencari Cinta may reflect on how choosy women and their families are ( and to show how men can put up an honest mask over their egoistic face )….of those Talent shows, like Some Country Idol,or some What-is-it Academy is a sad reflection on how easy it is to gain fame and to make the big telecommunication fat cat become more rich and filthy.

Guns don’t kill people. People do. Telly don’t make you a couch potato. Those programmes that people create do. Cars don’t kill elderly pedestrians. People do. There is no such thing as “What is wrong with the world we live?” …but “What is wrong with these people?”

The next time you watch Telly, just remember that you’re staring at a massive light bulb that speaks, and it may sound ridiculous, but the Telly is the “Mirror, mirror on the wall, are you watching me at all?” Enjoy reflecting on your self. Perhaps reflection is what we people need after all.

3-day weekend part 2

Left home just about 4 pm heading towards Jalan TAR (Tunku Abdul Rahman). The crowd seems a bit more than usual, almost matching the volume during near-Eid.

Above is what we see near-Eid...only in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The hunt for a black Baju Melayu was brief. I insisted it had to be from Kamdar since a Baju Melayu is just a Baju Melayu to be worn perhaps no more than 10 time post-Eid.

Then is was up to the 3rd and 4th floor to get some extra goodies. A few cushoin covers and a table cloth plus some kid-size baju kurung for my niece(s).

"Malam Ramadhan patutnya kita cari Lailatul Qadar, ini kita pi cari LaiLatuh Kamdar". *Cough*

3-day weekend

The plan was to get the Raya Shopping completed before Ramadhan commences.
Part of the plan is to get my road taxes and the house rent settled. What was not part of the plan is to make myself knackered. And it was just Friday.

Shopping at MidValley on a Friday seems no better than any Saturday.
At least MotherCare BSC was not too bad. Picture taken from someone's blog.

And IKEA's Curry Puff is still the best. Manage to get my Klippan Black Cover. This 2-seater gonna cost you RM 530 just for the sofa and an extra RM 100 for a cover.

I got it for RM 499 years ago with the cover included.

Theme for this year; Black and gold!

21 pence for 10 piece fish fingers?

Perhaps it is no longer the case by now. But it was actually a true occurance.

This is where it was once the case.

I can't really remember on what day the Beaver Bus would come to Goscote House.
It was cheap then, it could still be cheaper to get things there.

In my last few years in Leicester I would rather to go Sainsburys in town.

They don't do 21 pence of 10 fish fingers. But it's something of a walking distance plus you get Nectar Points back then.

All pictures are taken from Google Map.

Cheese and Onion Walkers Crisps and the Jaffa Cake

I used to eat lots of Walkers, and my only preferred flavour is always the distinctive blue packet.

The Cheese and Onion Walkers Crisps.

Cost you around 1.99 pounds for a packet of 6 in Sainsbury or Morrisons. RM 18.99 in Cold Storage Malaysia. What a rip-off.

Above is an actual picture taken in Cold Storage. At least now I know where to satisfy that nostalgic crave for British Potato Crisps.

There's another treasure from Old Mother England. The McVities Jaffa Cakes.

Not available anywhere in Malaysia yet...the closest match of a Jaffa cake bought in Malaysia is a Jaffa Cake that is not from McVities. I am not gonna tell you where I got it.

But now someone wrote that Jaffa Cakes are in Cold Storage. *seizure* No! It's mine! All mine!

Nokia 3210

For some reason, I will always remember this phone. It was bought it together with a 500 off peak minutes per month (for 12 months contract). At that time, it was a Christmast Deal at Carphone Warehouse.

How much did I paid?

99 Pounds for the phone and the 12-Months contract in advance.

Which I think is very cheap.

Economy Handalan at its best.

I still remember it's number until today.

That was back in 2000. In 2012, Malaysia's Telco Giants is still struggling to offer such packages.

Where is this phone now? I gave it away but the last time I saw it was in my mum's place.

Comfort eating

The closest thing to this is therapeutic shopping, if there is such term. It is something about it that makes it rather interesting to discover or perhaps getting into the habit.

Both are equally disasterous. It only gives you a temporary relief which in fact, in the long term, causes more grief.

Once I heard about the 4 Nikmat Dunia

1) Makan
2) Minum
3) Seks
4) Tidur

....in the age of money,

5) Shopping

Above is something I bought from Marks and Spencer for a birthday treat. You can't get this in the Malaysians M&S Stores.

The origins of 'Commencing Therapy"

It was rather a self-help therapy where I felt rather satisfied to express in an online-diary style for everyone to read.

Most of the postings at that time would be random thoughts. At times there would be some pictures I could upload.

But like when you read a diary written by someone else, who are bound to feel a bit, well,...involved.

Then, you tend to remember those words, it starts to influence your way to thinking.

I hope with this blog and postings, you would have your own stance and way of thinking.

I am not going to change yours, so I would expect not to be forced to think like you.

Above is where I used to study and play.

Freedom of choice does not go well with responsibility

What I really meant was the usage of freedom of speech. In Malay, there are sayings

"Terlajak perahu boleh diundur, terlajak kata buruk padahnya"
"Kerana pulut, santan binasa, kerana mulut, badan merasa"

I am working on this blog where I feel, as a responsible adult, Malaysian citizen, I would exercise the right of freedom of speech with full responsibility.

Above is an icy web on a fence of a cemetary, captured by a w800i.
I can't remember when was the first time I started this blog. It went into a period of inactivity and most of the contents are taken down.

Today I pledge to put in some effort. And this time, it will be a bit more or less like the good old days, but with a bit more responsibility, sensitivity and hopefully, what is shared here are again personal opinions.
Above is typical scene of autumm in front of the Leicester Museum.
Thanks
